Study work was completed as part of the XYZ Outblock course.
The assignment was to learn how to bake light into Unity and navigate the player with light.
The level is called “Once Night.” The adventures of the protogonist begin with a subway train breakdown and end with an escape with a pile of cash from a criminal's apartment.
The level represents a section of a large American city that the player enters when exiting a subway station. I used photos of different American cities and subway stations as a reference. I was also inspired by the paintings of Edward Hopper and the films of Jim Jarmusch and Gus Van Sant. In this level there are references to such movies as “The Matrix Revolutions”, “Interstate 60: Episodes of the Road”, “Saboteur” and some others.
My architectural knowledge and skills helped me a lot in this work.
